This is the signature page of the Webster-Ashburton Treaty that established the location of the border between Maine-New Brunswick. Daniel Webster, representing the Americans, and Lord Ashburton, representing the British, negotiated this treaty. Not only were Webster and Ashburton friends, but each also represented a government that sought to improve relations with the other.
