Tanks Moving Up for the Breakthrough

Painted in 1946 by George Pepper (1903–1962)

South of Caen en route to Falaise. The red tail-lights on the tanks are significant. This attack was a bold attempt to move forward in the dead of night, each tank navigating by following the tail-lights of the one ahead.
