HMCS Chilliwack has sent a boarding party to the sinking U-744. German submarines such as this were the main menace to convoys crossing the Atlantic Ocean. The Royal Canadian Air Force and the Royal Canadian Navy sank, or helped sink, 50 enemy submarines.
