Picturing Arctic Modernity – North Baffin Drawings From 1964

February 16 to September 3, 2018

Fifty drawings created by Inuit men and women in the mid-1960s offer eloquent first-person perspectives on daily life, history and memory‎ during a time of enormous upheaval. Contemporary recollections and audiovisual content add depth to this exhibition depicting traditional Inuit culture and the impact of social change on northern communities.

A travelling exhibition developed by the Agnes Etherington Art Centre and the Canadian Museum of History, with the assistance of the Pond Inlet Archives, Ilisaqsivik, Ittaq and Piqqusilirivvik, and funded in part by the Museums Assistance Program of the Government of Canada.
